June 23, 2024 we headed to El Salvador. It had been a whirlwind of a month, packing, cleaning house, giving away so much of what we've accumulated over the years. We visited with our kids and extended family, and prepared to go on a great adventure.
It was a sad day leaving our home of 14 years. But it was also an exciting day flying out to San Salvador together.

I (Heather) am on a three month leave of absence and Eliu has finished his career in engineering, so we are here to test the waters. To see if this life is for us, if God has El Salvador in His plans for us.
We have lived abroad before, in Brazil, but live there with our boys as well. Now they are grown and out of the house so this move will be just the two of us.
We will miss our family, but do plan on seeing them all again soon in a few months.
We've been to El Salvador a few times, but never this long.

It's exciting to land as always and feel the tropical air hit your face when you walk through the gate. We even stopped to grab a photo upon exiting the airport by the presidential display.
On arrival, we both got a little sick. Eliu with a cold and me with food poisoning. Our cabin which has been under construction, was not yet finished, so we are currently staying in an Airbnb for the month of July.
The first week we spent with Eliu's family. We walked around town, spent some time at Lago Coatepeque, and checked out the cabin. I'm sure this will be an interesting three months as we explore, get to know our surroundings and settle a little bit here in the country.
